Show up for Yourself
Frangry and RFF
This winter's so freezing, new words are coining their own selves to express my emotions. We've got frangry, frigid plus angry. And we got RFF, resting freezing face. Expressions too, including “stay not freezing,” instead of “stay warm.” Our community of Yoga practitioners warmly hold us through every seasons, so it's time for an extra dose. This year's installment of our low key takes place Saturday February 14th, from 11-1:30. Show up for us and yourself, so our purusa-s may happily mingle. All with positive intentions welcomed, always. You don't have to be a regular student.
If you're cold.
If you love supporting women-owned, local business.
If your heart yearns for inner warmth these days.
If you like to apply and/or ingest natural remedies.
If genuine smiles and conversations pique your interest.
If you're happy and well and want to share some of that.
If this ultimate Hallmark holiday magnifies your sadness, constriction, grief or emotional challenges.
If you like to drink fresh pressed juice.
If you get hungry for healthy, tasty meal around noon.
Remembering who you are is Yoga, you know. And we will always remind you, as my teachers always remind me, when we meet, every time I practice, and in echos throughout my daily life. Sometimes with rtam, sometimes with satyam, and always for the purpose of leading me toward kaivalyam, they remind me. For those of you who haven’t studied the Yogic texts, that’s sometimes the whole truth and nothing but the truth, sometimes honey-coated and with Yoga’s goal, liberation, in mind.
We are clear that in order to remember who we are, layer upon layer must be penetrated, loosened, unwoven and teased out; meanwhile, new patterns in the breath, mind, body, emotions and personality cultivate, newly woven. Having both wise counsel and sanga who are intentional in walking the path of Yoga, we gain opportunities to face ourselves, turn our attention inward. There, we discover our obstacles to health, healing and spiritual development. There, we steady, soften, strengthen. There, we navigate discomfort with tools to uncover clarity and courage, over time.
Via interacting with people who accept us, believe in us, love us, who we have heart-to-heart connections with, we calm down. Our nervous systems shift into a more pacified state. We feel safer in our bodies. Our hormones balance. We are disarmed, and in such a state, dip into our authentic selves. We remember who we are, and think, act and communicate in alignment with that. One of the most sacred gifts we can share with each other is presence.
Sometimes, I wonder why I do this work, in a world that mostly ignores it. It’s my sraddha in the teachings, in the teachers. It’s my sraddha, connected to progress and transformations I have seen and am seeing in myself, in you. It helps me remember my goal. We will continue to do that here, together. To go through things and remember you are not those things is the work. To build, not a wall around you, but a reliable, individualized infrastructure to de and reconstruct according to personal parameters in how we grow.
