Yoga Philosophy Course

To benefit most from Yoga, sincere Yoga practitioners study the Yoga Sūtra of Patanjali. This is the widely-recognized text that elucidates the original purpose of this ancient system of holistic health, healing, and transformation - to calm down and focus the mind, and to thereby gain the clarity of vision that promotes a life well-lived. Yoga’s wisdom shines gradually within the individual who engages in not just part of yoga, but the fullness of its treasured teachings. The complete, experiential system is best learned via connection with an teacher who is part of a living, ancient tradition.

Yoga Therapy CEUs - Muscle Strength Assessment and Corrections: Lower Body Part One

Danielle will be teaching as part of this course, along with Dr. John Wallman. Participants are eligible for both IAYT and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education units!

YogAnalysis 201: Muscle Strength Assessment and Corrections: Lower Body Pt. I

Dates: February 2, 3 and 9, 10 2019         10am-6pm  (32 hours)
Location: 2805 Veterans Memorial Hwy Suite 10 Ronkonkoma, New York
Prerequisite: Open to yoga therapists and yoga instructors
Price: $695

Description: Under-engaged or dis-engaged body parts are not embodied and are not conscious. Client habitual disembodiment can manifest as strength imbalances and contribute to injuries, pain, joint degeneration and reduced athletic performance that yoga professionals see every day.  These can represent the dark hidden aspects of ourselves. Through precise testing, these hidden aspects are revealed to allow the client to be more fully conscious. This course covers potential causes, compares individual muscle vs. whole-body evaluation strategies and introduces multiple measuring techniques. Emphasis is placed on the anatomy and techniques of manually testing individual muscles in order to assess and understand clients with precision. Corrective actions emphasize exercises using elastic resistance along with techniques for isolating movement (asana variations), breath (pranayama), and focused concentration (dharana) to restore proper joint function and develop a fully embodied consciousness (samdhi). Nutritional factors for strength development are introduced. This course focuses on muscles of the lower limb with anterior to posterior movements that are commonly involved in low back issues.

Families Belong Together Fundraiser Class

We are on board to come together in the name of union, Yoga's namesake, and rapid Reunion of the children and caretakers/parents who have been torn apart from each other. We all have in common that we were children and either have children or are children of our parents. No one wants to imagine a forced separation, yet it is happening in our country. Please join us or donate to RAICES - Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services.

Parents separated from their children at the border (and other immigrants placed in detention) can’t get released from ICE custody to reunite with their families until they pay the full amount of their immigration bond. Bonds are set at a MINIMUM of $1500, and are usually in the range of $5-10K, even for asylum seekers without any criminal history.

Unlike in the criminal system, bail bond companies either do not help people in immigration proceedings or impose very strict requirements, like private ankle monitors (which families have to pay to “rent”).

Donate to our fund to directly support legal services for detained separated parents and the direct funding for bonds to get parents released!

Within the last six weeks, nearly 2,000 migrant children have been separated from their families while crossing the U.S.–Mexico border under the Trump administration’s “zero-tolerance” policy. That means an average of 45 migrant children are being ripped from their families per day and placed in detention centers on their own.

Reports have begun to emerge of horrifying conditions in these detention centers, several of which have been compared to jails. Photos from one facility in McAllen, Texas, show children being held in cages.
