Healthy habits are contagious

Our groups always have added benefits, and extra ones this Summer

If fostering health and longevity is on your radar for you and your loved ones and clients, look no further than what you eat, who you spend time with and what you do in your spare time. Blue Zone residents, residing in locales with an uncharacteristically large population of centenarians, all hold in common these habits that they share amongst each other.

While we can’t do all of that with and for you, we will punctuate summer with more of it, starting next weekend. Let's connect, purposefully, in person, and inaugurate summer connecting with wholesome people, tasty plant-based food and genuine, good vibes. Stay after our next Saturday 5/31 Roots of Yoga class for a healthy and summer-delicious meal by Christina Finkel, our retreat chef this summer - you'll get a sneak yum-view of what's to come. Fostering belonging through shared plant-based meals with our community moves all of our needles into the Blue Zone.

Group classes and the Blue Zone hold more in common than you may think. In Blue Zone areas, strong community connection and prioritizing time with close connections matters. So do the daily rituals shared by individuals in these communities, including daily downtime, prayer and reverence toward nature and ancestors. Our shared nurturing of physical, mental and spiritual well-being mirrors the behavioral rituals of these longevity masters. While doing this at home daily is the foundation, the togetherness of doing this at Yoga Foundation matters more than we may admit.

We offer group experiences, even though our primary work is Yoga Therapy, because one of the six primary factors in success as practitioners on the path of Yoga is good company. Why? Whatever habits you have, whether it’s drinking whiskey or milking almonds, when you cavort with like-minded people, it reinforces them. True Yoga practice is a healthy habit, one we all practice at home every day. It breeds self-awareness and other healthy habits in life. Quality time spent with trusted community on a similar path amplifies these helpful habits; conversely, quality time spent with trusted community engaging in health-sabotaging behaviors normalizes that.

Add nature, alla our Southampton retreats, and you’ll be well on the road to living a more fulfilled life, and possibly even a longer one.
